Agar Agar In Cat Food

So, I stumbled across these two images and I couldn't help but think...what in the world is going on here?

First up, we have this lovely plate of agar agar:

Now, I've heard of using this stuff as a vegetarian gelatin substitute, but I never knew it came in such a fancy-looking form. It's like someone decided to turn Jell-O into a work of art. I mean, look at those perfect little cubes and spheres and...whatever that curly thing is. It's almost too pretty to eat. But let's be real, I would still eat it.

And speaking of things that are too pretty to eat...

Next up, we have this science experiment in a box:

Now, I know this is supposed to be some kind of educational tool for kids to learn about growing bacteria or whatever, but all I can see is a bunch of creepy crawlies waiting to take over my kitchen. I mean, just look at all those little petri dishes filled with mystery substances. Who knows what kind of mutant bacteria is lurking in there, just waiting to turn me into Patient Zero.

But hey, at least it's not as scary as that time I tried to make my own sourdough starter and ended up with an alien-looking blob that started to smell like feet.

Anyway, that's enough science for one day. I'm gonna go eat some Jell-O and try not to think about what might be living inside of it.
